Hey there, it is good to meet you.
I am a fully clinically trained and insured psychotherapist. My core profession is in art psychotherapy and I also offer EMDR.
I hold an MA in Art Psychotherapy from Roehampton University. Accredited by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), the same body that regulates doctors and social workers and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and the British Association of Art Psychotherapists. This allows me to practice safely and ethically in the UK. As a registered member of these regulatory bodies, I am committed to regular training and development throughout the year, known as career professional development.
In my personal and professional experiences I have noticed how creativity offers opportunities for self discovery and connection which words alone can sometimes miss. Art making, mark making and creating is a radical tool for grounding, growth, self care and change. I know; making and creating has kept me connected, grounded and allowed me to explore and play.
I have had the honour of working with people across a variety of different sectors inclusive of NHS community teams (tier 1 - 3) in adult learning disability, neurodevelopmental and child and adolescent services, school settings (private and comprehensive), charity sectors and in private health sectors.
Training
As an Art Psychotherapist, my training is underpinned by psychodynamic and psychoanalytical principles.
Psychodynamic and psychoanalytical therapy looks at your past and present experiences; with the aim to gently uncover the roots of feelings and patterns that may not be in your awareness, with the hope to support you towards a greater insight.
Through using creativity and collaboration we can create space to work through all the feelings and find room to embrace the freedom to explore what it truly means to be you. Honouring all aspects of you.
Together we can rediscover intuition, tune into the body to help you feel grounded and less stuck and learn to rest along the way. Even in this wild and wonderful world we explore what balance can look like and discover what brings you joy and peace again.
Things that are important to me and the service I offer you:
That my clients and I cultivate collaboration and build trust with each other.
That I can offer an anti oppressive, trauma informed, neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming service
That I can facilitate and hold space for all parts of you with curiousity.
That I acknowledge and understand my privileges and bias and continue to seek opportunities to challenge and nurture myself.
That I really understand your hopes, goals and intentions for accessing support so we can support you through them.
That I surround myself with other skilled practitioners to seek consultation, supervision, community and further training opportunities.
